Your inner being includes your outer self, your subconscious mind, and all the other "unconscious" parts of your mind that have tried to be identified and categorized. Our inner being is our complete consciousness. Its all of the "separate" parts of our consciousness in one single image (but don’t mistake that with the “self” / what’s seen in the mirror). To simplify the ideology, unique and playfully fierce creatures were painted to represent these parts of ourselves and our character. Sometimes we have to unleash out inner monster, but be nice to them or else they’ll turn into demons.
