Rudolf Henninger

As an artist with an architectural background, I pursue performance of my art on two continents. I see myself as a creative thinker and designer, sculptor, stone carver,“Baumeister”and wanderer in two worlds, Canada and Germany.

In playful experimentation with digital design tools, I create surreal sceneries with anthropomorphic figural elements. This situates my figural work in a free relationship between figurativism and different modes of abstraction. All my artistic efforts continue to explore and create new, unique figurative concepts and to endow them with a soul. This also applies to my sculptures which are generally in upright posture, conceptualized with clear lines and surfaces, gently curved, sparse in expression but clearly self-governing, shaped esthetically and giving a taste of vulnerability. Thus my sculptures are meant to represent a metaphor for some of our forms of modern life. Arranged in a group, the sculptural ensemble seems to be engaged in silent Dialog in a surreal new world. This theme also finds repetition in my digital paintings.

In the course of my professional career, my presentations of art have included large-scale, 3-dimensional public sculptures and installations. I have shown my oeuvre at various indoor and outdoor exhibitions in Canada and Europe. Numerous sculptures were commissioned by private collectors.
