Beata Podwysocka

Beata Podwysocka (AFRP, AFIAP) was born in Olsztyn, Poland. She is a self-taught artist. She has been always receptive to modern arts especially abstract, surrealist, hyperrealist and minimalist forms, which is very often reflected in her works. The artist explores the surrounding world in search of evocative scraps and patches of ordinary objects and phenomena. The way she perceives and records the reality can be compared to sewing an intricate quilt since she uses her camera in order to cut out single pieces of fabric-like shapes, surfaces, textures, patterns and colours.

While taking photographs the artist also reaches for vague and transient images such as shadows or reflections. She is fascinated with the fact that one is able to freeze the world that is absolutely intangible, but at the same time, it is inevitably and irreversibly non-existent without the actual physicality of things.

The artist has been actively and successfully participating in photographic competitions both nationally and internationally. Her works have been displayed at three solo exhibitions and several group shows in Poland, the United States, Great Britain, China, Slovakia, Serbia or Montenegro.

She is a creative photographer, Fellow of the Polish Republic’s Photoclub, a holder of the AFRP title. In July 2015, she obtained a prestigious distinction ‘Artist FIAP’ (AFIAP) awarded by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
